Prof. Murtala Yusuf Forty-Four
Prof. Murtala Yusuf Fortyfour is the Bursar of Al-Muhibbah Open University, with over twenty years of professional experience spanning academia, public service, the banking sector, accounting, finance and university administration. He is committed to promoting transparency, accountability and sound financial governance in support of the University’s mission and long-term strategic objectives.
As Bursar, he oversees the University’s financial administration, budgeting, treasury management, financial reporting, procurement and internal financial controls, ensuring prudent stewardship of resources and effective financial management across the institution.
Prior to joining Al-Muhibbah Open University, Prof. Fortyfour served as the Pioneer Head of the Department of Accounting at Taraba State University. He also built a distinguished career in both the public service and the banking sector, gaining extensive experience in financial management, corporate governance and strategic administration. In addition, he founded Fourtyfour Global Concepts, Topnotch Financial Services and Consulting Ltd, and Fortymatrix Nigeria Ltd—accounting and audit consultancy firms that provide financial advisory, financial investigation, debt facilitation and recovery, taxation, and corporate finance services to public and private sector organisations.
Prof. Fortyfour holds a PhD in Accounting and Finance; an M.Sc. in Accounting and Finance (UK); a Master’s in Islamic Banking and Finance (Bayero University Kano); an M.Sc. in Taxation and Fiscal Policy (Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil); a Master’s in Financial Economics (Federal University Lokoja); a Master of Business Administration (University of Maiduguri); and a BSc in Accountancy (University of Maiduguri).
He is an Associate Chartered Accountant (ACA), a Certified National Accountant (CNA), a Fellow of the Certified Financial Analysts (FCFA), an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (ACTI), a Certified Financial Intelligence Professional (CFIP), and a Certified Procurement Professional Manager (CPPM), reflecting his unwavering commitment to professional excellence, continuous learning and ethical financial leadership.
