Al-Muhibbah Open University’s Top-Up Programme provides eligible graduates with an opportunity to strengthen their academic qualifications, improve their degree classification, or pursue a bachelor's degree in a related discipline.
Successful applicants are admitted directly into 300 Level and can complete the programme within 18 months, subject to meeting all academic and programme requirements.
Who Can Apply?
The Top-Up Programme is designed for graduates who already hold a recognised bachelor's degree and wish to further their academic qualifications.
It is particularly suitable for:
Graduates Seeking to Improve Their Degree Classification
Graduates who obtained a lower degree classification, including Third Class, may apply for a Top-Up programme to improve their academic standing, subject to the University's admission and programme requirements.
Graduates Seeking a Degree in a Related Discipline
Graduates who already hold a degree in one discipline may apply to pursue a bachelor's degree in another related field, enabling them to broaden their academic background and professional opportunities.
Graduates Seeking an Accelerated Degree Pathway
Eligible applicants do not start from 100 Level. Successful candidates are admitted directly into 300 Level and are expected to complete the programme within 18 months.
The programme is delivered through AOU's open and distance learning model, providing a flexible pathway for eligible graduates to continue their education.
Admission Requirements
To be considered for undergraduate admission, applicants should meet the University's general entry requirements together with any programme-specific requirements.

To be considered for Top-Up admission, applicants must meet the University’s general admission requirements as well as any programme-specific requirements.
1. Academic Qualification
Applicants must:
- Hold a recognised bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Provide official evidence of their previous degree and academic record.
- Meet the academic requirements for their selected Top-Up programme.
- For applicants seeking a different degree, hold a previous qualification in a relevant or related discipline, where applicable.
- Provide an official academic transcript for academic assessment.
- Successfully complete the University’s verification of submitted credentials.
2. O’Level Requirements
Applicants must possess a minimum of five (5) credit passes in relevant subjects, including English Language and Mathematics, obtained in not more than two sittings in WAEC, NECO, NABTEB or an equivalent examination.

3. Programme Eligibility
Admission into a Top-Up programme is subject to assessment of the applicant’s previous qualification and its relevance to the selected programme.
The University reserves the right to determine eligibility based on the applicant’s academic credentials, previous field of study and the requirements of the intended programme.
