Her Excellency Dr Aisha Bala Mohammed, FNCS (Sarauniyar Bauchi) is the Founder and Chancellor of Al-Muhibbah Open University, a distinguished humanitarian, education advocate, and philanthropist whose vision for accessible, technology-enabled higher education gave rise to one of Nigeria's pioneering private open universities. She founded the University with the conviction that quality education should be available to every learner, regardless of geographical location or personal circumstances.
Born on 7 May 1968 in Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State, Dr Mohammed holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration from the University of Abuja and has been widely recognised for her outstanding contributions to humanitarian service, women's empowerment, youth development, and community advancement. Her lifelong commitment to education and social impact is reflected in the work of the Al-Muhibbah Foundation, through which she has empowered countless women, young people, and underserved communities across Nigeria.
As Chancellor, Dr Mohammed continues to provide visionary leadership that inspires academic excellence, ethical leadership, innovation, and inclusive education. Dr Aisha Bala Mohammed is an accomplished leader whose career spans education, philanthropy, public service, and community development. As the Founder and Chancellor of Al-Muhibbah Open University, she provides strategic direction for the University's long-term growth while promoting excellence in teaching, research, innovation, and governance. Under her leadership, the University has expanded its academic offerings, strengthened institutional governance, and advanced its mission of delivering quality open and distance learning to students across Nigeria and beyond.
Beyond the University, Dr Mohammed is the Founder of the Al-Muhibbah Foundation, where she has led numerous initiatives focused on humanitarian assistance, women's economic empowerment, youth development, education, healthcare, and grassroots entrepreneurship. Her advocacy has consistently promoted inclusive development, self-reliance, and equal educational opportunities, particularly for women and disadvantaged communities.
Her exceptional service has earned her numerous national and international recognitions, including the Nigerian Philanthropy Award, the Humanitarian Services Award, the Best Human Capital Builder Award, the Inter Faith Leadership Award, and an Honorary Doctor of Arts Degree from Ahfad University for Women, Sudan. She has also received several traditional chieftaincy titles in recognition of her enduring contributions to humanity and national development.
