Professional Experience
As Bursar of Al-Muhibbah Open University, Prof. Murtala Yusuf Fourtyfour oversees the University's financial administration, budgeting, treasury management, financial reporting, procurement oversight, and internal financial controls. He works closely with the Governing Council and University Management to ensure that financial resources are managed responsibly while supporting the University's strategic objectives and long-term sustainability.
Prior to joining Al-Muhibbah Open University, Prof. Fourtyfour served as the Pioneer Head of the Department of Accounting at Taraba State University, where he contributed significantly to academic development and departmental leadership. Alongside his academic career, he established Fourtyfour Global Concepts, a professional accounting and audit consultancy providing financial advisory, auditing, taxation, and corporate finance services to public and private sector organisations.
Prof. Fourtyfour holds a PhD in Accounting and Finance, a Master of Science in Accounting and Finance from the University of Salford, United Kingdom, a Master of Science in Islamic Banking and Finance from Bayero University, Kano, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Maiduguri, and a Bachelor's degree in Accountancy. He is a Certified National Accountant (CNA), a Fellow of the Certified Financial Analysts (FCFA), and an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (ACTI), reflecting his dedication to professional excellence and continuous learning.
